Introducing fine jewelry made by women of the Starfish Project.
Building a sisterhood through creating jewelry, the Starfish Project is addressing the issue of exploited women in Asian countries where basic human rights are often ignored. Women in exploitive circumstances find shelter, both literal and mental, with the organization, which also provides anonymity often necessary to ensure women's safety.
The women are taught the craft of jewelry-making and are paid a fair price for their work. The designs often integrate stones, freshwater pearls, crystals, metals and mother of pearl. Their jewelry shows a sophistication and attention to detail required in the developed world.
