Creating Beauty and Opportunity

The topic of immigration in our country and the refugee crisis in several parts of the world still have center stage in our current political environment. No matter what side of the debate you find yourself in, it is important to recognize that many organizations right here in our community have increased their efforts to make St Louis a more welcoming city to those looking for their version of the "American dream." One of these organizations is Forai and we are proud to announce they are the recipients of this month's Giving Back Days Campaign.

Here is how YOU can show your support:

• WHAT: Shop Fair Trade gifts at our store located at 3211 South Grand Blvd., St. Louis, 63118 or online.
• WHEN: Tuesday, April 25 to Friday, April 28 (11AM - 8PM)
  
• RESULT: we will donate 15% of all sales to Forai St Louis!

FORAI (Friends Of Refugees And Immigrants) is a 501(c)3 non-profit founded on fair trade principles that supports refugee and immigrant women as they begin home-based micro-businesses to supplement their incomes through the production of high quality, marketable jewelry and accessories.

As an immigrant Fair Trade business owner myself, I am often reminded of the many blessings I enjoy everyday and the many people who welcomed me when I first arrived in the United States in 1990. Their support led me to a successful career and finally the launch of Zee Bee Market in 2012.   Joining the efforts made by Forai to support resettled refugees in our city is something I truly appreciate.  Fair Trade is a producer-centered movement. It's a way to break the cycle of poverty through the sale of unique, high quality, artisan-made products.   Forai artists have created some the most beautiful jewelry and kids products you'll ever see. We are happy to carry some of them and make them available to you.   While shopping with us from April 25 to April 28 will result in a donation to this organization, it will be even more powerful if you were to purchase the very items made by the women Forai supports. A Win-Win!   Also worth mentioning is the fact that we carry a line of bow ties that are made by one of these artisan women, thanks to a partnership with Goosehaven Company. 

The Fair Trade Principles that guide our business practices are also observed by Forai.
