We <3 Kids Vision for Life St. Louis

One of my favorite quotes by Rumi is "Let the Beauty We Love Become the Good we Do." These powerful words inspire us to do the work we do. It is through Fair Trade that we, as consumers, can make a difference. Here is another way to let the beautiful products we buy, turn into the good we do.

We are delighted to partner with Kids Vision for Life St. Louis and support the great work they do right here in our community.

This is how it works:

  • WHAT: You shop beautiful handmade and Fair Trade gifts at our store or online
  • WHEN: Tuesday, August 4 to Friday, August 7
  • RESULT: we will donate 15% of all in-store and online sales to this great nonprofit organization!

Don't know much about Kids Vision for Life St. Louis and their work? Read on.

Kids Vision for Life St. Louis (KVFL) is sponsored and operated by Crown Vision Center, Area Resources for Community and Human Services (ARCHS), and the Essilor Vision Foundation. Kids Vision for Life provides vision screenings, eye exams and new eyeglasses to students in need, ages 5-13, at no cost to the family through mobile clinics, school systems, central locations and special events. Vision screenings, eye exams, and prescription eyewear are provided to elementary-aged students that are economically disadvantaged and would not otherwise be able to obtain them. See these impressive statistics!

KVFL currently provides vision services for the following school districts: St. Louis Public Schools, Riverview Gardens, Jennings, Ferguson-Florissant, Bayless, Normandy, Maplewood Richmond Heights, Hancock Place, Ritenour, Pattonville, as well as several charter schools in the area.

With the recent expansion of their program, KVFL has purchased a new mobile vision clinic to better serve the St. Louis area. This 33 foot long state-of-the-art mobile vision clinic has two examination lanes and a lab that will allow glasses to be made onsite at the elementary schools. With the expansion, KVFL is hosting several back-to-school vision events in the area. Children ages 6-13 can participate in no cost vision screenings, eye exams and eyeglasses at no cost for children in need.

Students with poor vision who have gone for years viewing the world as dull-colored blobs and distorted figures experience overwhelming joy when they slip on their first pair of glasses provided by the Kids Vision for Life program. They report seeing their new world unfold with bright, colorful and sharp images.

If shopping Fair Trade for someone or yourself this month is not in your plans, please consider donating to this wonderful organization today...thanks!

As always, thank you for supporting our social enterprise and for indirectly also help KVFL-St Louis!
