It isn't hard to find institutions in St. Louis that do amazing work to make a difference in the lives of people. Our Giving Back Days Campaign looks for ways to support financially such nonprofit organizations. Since our campaign kickoff in February, we have been able to donate over $2,000 and this has been possible thanks to YOU, our customers. Every time you've shopped with us during those campaign days, you've helped make a difference.
We are thrilled to continue to celebrate Fair Trade Month by partnering with St. Margaret of Scotland School, located in the Shaw Neighborhood in South St. Louis.
Here is how YOU can help us support the ongoing efforts to provide quality education to hundreds of children in our city and make a difference in their future.
This is how it works:
- WHAT: You shop our Fair Trade gifts at our store located at 3211 South Grand Blvd., 63118
- WHEN: Tuesday, October 20 to Saturday, October 24
- RESULT: we will donate 15% of all in-store and online sales to this great institution!
St. Margaret of Scotland Parish School has long been known for its vibrant and life-giving presence in south St. Louis. Both the parish and school have committed themselves to the Shaw neighborhood and to their surrounding neighborhoods. There is also deep commitment to embracing the diversity that comes with being a city school: diversity in color, diversity in economics, diversity in culture, habits and beliefs. The school belongs to this little piece of the city and it belongs to it.
The St. Margaret of Scotland school mission has always been to provide an outstanding learning environment in which children are challenged to meet their potential and recognize their gifts in mind, body and spirit. The focus is upon each child as an individual with unique strengths and talents, reaching out to each one at his or her own intellectual level. In 2010, the school earned the much coveted, national honor of being named a Blue Ribbon school of excellence.
The 2010 Blue Ribbon, a national award for academic excellence, honored St. Margaret of Scotland Parish School for its high standardized test scores and excellent programs that fostered learning at all grade levels. Since then enrollment has continued to increase, to the point that it was physically impossible to house the number of students in the ideal number of classrooms.
In 2014, parish and school worked really hard on a Capital Campaign to raise funds for a New Building. The brand new space opened just in time for the 2015-2016 calendar year.
We hope you join us from Oct 20 to Oct 24 and do some Fair Trade holiday shopping. If you can't make it to our store, visit our website and you can shop online 24/7.
Not ready to shop? There are also many ways of giving to SMOS and support quality education in our city. In the END, it's the BEGINNING that counts!
A Million Thanks.
