While these striking 16-inch bowl baskets are traditionally used for serving food, they are stunning as wall décor pieces, especially in collections featuring various sizes and patterns. Weavers construct them by wrapping colorfully dyed palm raffia around a coil of "bukedo", the local term in Uganda for banana leaf stalks. The large banana leaf stalks are pulled apart into long, thin strips, then dried, and then bundled into coils and wrapped with raffia.
With every product you purchase, you are helping provide employment, educational opportunities and medical care to women artisans in Uganda.
