Across Southern Africa, the Batonga women of Zambia are well know for their basketry skills and unique designs. They use abundant natural fibers like palm leaves, wild twigs and creeping vines to craft functional pieces of woven art. Rich, earthy pigments are added with natural dyes made from bark and leaves. Each basket takes days to make and honors generations of artistic heritage passed from mother to daughter. With every product you purchase, you are helping provide employment, educational opportunities and medical care to these women and their families in Zambia.
